Tolmachevo Airport Participates in Air Astana Business Meeting

On August 23, in Almaty an annual business meeting of the airports of the partner airlines, Air Astana, and the first low-cost airline in Kazakhstan – FlyArystan has been held.


This event, which has already become a tradition, usually gathers a large number of participants from airports and airlines. The JSC “Airport Tolmachevo” was presented in the meeting by its General Director Evgeniy Yankilevich and its Commercial Director Natalya Mzhelskaya.

Peter Forster, President of Air Astana, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The plans of the airline for the development of the route network, achievements in the field of modernization and expansion of the aircraft fleet, improving the quality of passenger service on Board were presented. Air Astana airlines presented its new project this is FlyArystan, which is the first air carrier of Kazakhstan in the low-cost format.


Representatives of the Tolmachevo airport have taken part in negotiations with the management of Air Astana airline on increasing the number of frequencies, opening new destinations from Kazakhstan to Novosibirsk. This should significantly expand the geography of flights with connections at the Tolmachevo airport not only for passengers of Air Astana airline, but also the base carrier of the airport, this is S7 Airlines. We would like to remind you, that airlines have recently launched joint flights to Kazakhstan within the framework of the code-sharing agreement. In addition, the issues of ground handling of airline flights at Tolmachevo airport were discussed.

The theme of the development of air communication between Kazakhstan and other Russian cities was also discussed in terms of cooperation with airports belonging to the holding “Novaport”.

The airline company Air Astana is a joint venture of FNB “Samruk-Kazyna” (51%) and BAE Systems (49%), and it began regular flights on May 15, 2002. The route network includes more than 60 international and domestic flights. The air fleet consists of 35 aircrafts Boeing 767/757, Airbus A320/A321 and Embraer E190/E190-E2 aircraft. Air Astana is an eight-time winner of the Skytrax award in the nomination “Best airline company in Central Asia and India”, a two-time winner of the Travelers' Choice Awards 2018/2019 of TripAdvisor in the nomination “Regional Asian Carrier”. The American Association APEX awarded Air Astana 5 stars in the nomination “Major Regional Airlines” in September 2018.

FlyArystan is the first economy class carrier of Kazakhstan, based in Almaty and created on the basis of Air Astana airline in 2018. Starting from May 1, 2019, the airline has began to operate commercial scheduled flights on Airbus A320 aircraft within Kazakhstan between cities such as Almaty, Nur Sultan, Karaganda, Taraz, Pavlodar, Shymkent, Uralsk and others.

The Novosibirsk International Airport (Tolmachevo) named after A.I. Pokryshkin is the largest transit air hub beyond the Urals on the most important routes between Europe and Asia. At the end of 2018, the airport has served about 5,909 million passengers. The airport's route network includes more than 95 flight destinations. Today, the airport is offering for passengers more than 2,000 practical combinations of pairs of connecting routes.
