Yevgeny Yankilevich Defined the Problems Airports Face Providing Accessible Environment
On August 16, a meeting devoted to the discussion of accessible transport environment was organized within the framework of the topical session “Young Specialists in the Sector of Transport” of Russian Educational Youth Forum Terra Scientia on Klyazma River.
The meeting was initiated by Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Presidential Commission for the Disabled Alexandra Levitskaya. General Manager of JSC Airport Tolmachevo Yevgeny Yankilevich took part in the event.
According to Alexandra Levitskaya, government bodies and private companies investing in transport business are equally responsible for development of accessible environment. Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation also pointed out the need to prepare educational programmes for the work with the disabled.
At the meeting, Yevgeny Yankilevich made a report about accessible environment for disabled passengers served at Novosibirsk airport. General Manager described the infrastructure the airport can now offer to the passengers of this category, as well as scheduled activities and the works being carried out.
He emphasized the fact that the number of disabled passengers compared to the past year increased by more than 40%. “Passengers from the regions of Siberia and the Far East come to attend Novosibirsk federal medical centres, and arrive at Tolmachevo airport as transfer passengers departing to other Russian cities,” pointed out Yevgeny Yankilevich.
Among the activities aimed at improving the quality of serving disabled people, Yevgeny Yankilevich enumerated special training for the personnel, development of training courses and programmes, better informing of disabled passengers about the regulations and facilities of the airports and on board of the aircraft, starting with buying a ticket.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
