Tolmachevo Became Winner of the Eurasian Award in Regional Transportation
The awarding ceremony for winners and laureates of the Eurasian prize in the regional air transportation has been held on September 20 in Moscow within the VII international conference "Development of Airports – 2019".
According to the results of the assessment of activity, the Tolmachevo airport has become the winner of the award in the category "Airport of the year" in group A (traffic volume of more than 5 million passengers per year)".
Mrs. Tatiana Rymar, Deputy head of aviation commercial activity service, head of aviation marketing Department of the Tolmachevo airport, has taken part in the awarding ceremony of the Eurasian award in the regional air transportation as a representative of the Tolmachevo airport.
The winner has been determined by evaluating of objective measurable criteria and qualitative characteristics of the air traffic hub activity. The jury has consisted of representatives of the professional expert community.
Thanks to the development of regional destinations by the main local carrier S7 Airlines and partner airlines, the effective implementation of government subsidies for air travel, the Tolmachevo airport is today the main alternative to Moscow airports for passengers to use it as a convenient transfer point on routes between the European part of the Russian Federation, Southern Russia, Eastern Siberia and the Far East. Every day, there are three "waves" of connections in the schedule of Tolmachevo airport, and the number of combinations of transfer connections practically used by passengers with a transfer to Tolmachevo exceeds 2,300. The share of transfer passengers in the total passenger traffic of the airport amounts to 26%.
The Eurasian award for regional air transport has been established among airlines, airports and other civil aviation enterprises of the Eurasian region by the Center for strategic developments in civil aviation (CSD CA) to encourage enterprises that have achieved outstanding results in civil aviation in the past year.
The Novosibirsk International Airport (Tolmachevo) named after A.I. Pokryshkin is the largest transit air hub beyond the Urals on the most important routes between Europe and Asia. At the end of 2018, the airport has served about 5,909 million passengers. The airport's route network includes more than 95 flight destinations. Today, the airport is offering for passengers more than 2,300 practical combinations of pairs of connecting routes.
