Art project "High Flight" continues
As part of the joint project “High Flight,” Tolmachevo Airport, the salon "Antiques on Nikolaevsky," and the coffee-house network " Cup of Coffee" present the second picture of the diptych "At the Airport," by the famous Novosibirsk artist Grigory Likman.
The work is presented on the first floor of sector A (domestic airlines) of the terminal complex in the passenger check-in area near the coffee shop "Cup of Coffee".
The painting, dated 1966, is exhibited to the public for the first time and will be available for viewing until July. The first picture of the diptych was presented in December 2017 by Tolmachevo airport in cooperation with its partners in the project.
Grigory Gustavovich Likman is one of the most paradoxical figures in the history of the art of Siberia. Painter-classicist with a huge, hidden layer of artistic heritage, he was a bright, artistic person with a mysterious biography. The image and the artistic world of Likman are amazing contrasts. Grigory Gustovich worked in different styles: easel painting, magazine and book illustration, poster and newspaper cartoons, and more.
By organizing the exhibition, Tolmachevo airport not only creates an art space for its passengers and guests, but also pays tribute to the cultural heritage of Novosibirsk.
Director of the salon "Antiques on the Nikolaevsky," Ekaterina Karshenik, said about the project:
“Grigory Gustavovich Likman lived and worked in Novosibirsk. His works – part of the history of our city and the art of Siberia – are the art of the original and unique. The plot of the diptych is connected with Tolmachevo airport – the artist sends us on a journey through time, and we find ourselves in the distant and cozy 1960s ... Today, when Grigory Gustavovich's paintings are kept mostly in private collections and museums, the project "High Flight", introducing Novosibirsk citizens and guests of our city to the work of the famous Novosibirsk artist, seems very timely and necessary.”
